Chef Jay & Chaz have more than 35 years of combined experience in brand development and culinary/restaurant management.
Chef Jay’s culinary career began in Food Emporium as a grocery store associate and is now veteran-status, after spending nearly two decades in New York City’s restaurant scene, working for the world’s famous Sylvia’s Soul Food, The Monkey Bar, Clinton Hall, and La Sirena, while also helping launch StingRay’s Restaurant in Harlem and Sobro Café in the Bronx. Chef Jay has an impressive resume, cooking for the Obamas alongside celebrity Chef Marcus Samuelsson, during his tenure at Red Rooster.
His wife Chaz, is a veteran in the apparel, accessory/jewelry and gift industry – who’s spent years traveling internationally working to develop brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, NineWest, and Michael Kors to name a few. Together, they’re re-imagining and re-inventing ways to represent the recipes so many Americans know and love, while re-defining what “Latin -Soul Food” looks and tastes like.
